Want to find the perfect metaphor for a fantastic life?

"Life is just a bowl of cherries"
—Ray Henderson and Lew Brown

Giving my artist talk at the Heidi Gallery last Sunday. I was thrilled to be included in the show, “Pride-Full.”

I agree with Henderson and Brown, cherries are the perfect metaphor for a life well-lived. It's a sweet, firm, juicy fruit with a beautiful, vibrant red color that evokes passion, strength, and courage. We deal with the stems, pits, and dirt because we know these things are essential to growing this luscious morsel. When we accept all that is, we are engaged in the present moment and open to all the love that surrounds us all the time. So enjoy that beautiful fruit of life and just spit out the dang pits!

Visit me, along with my latest collection of small cherry paintings, at

Jill Sobule, prolific signer-songwriter, activist, and my musical mentor died tragically in a house fire on May 1st, 2025.

Mark the evening of August 9th on your calendar and plan to join me and special guests as we honor my friend, the late singer-songwriter, Jill Sobule, while raising money for her charitable causes and legacy fund. It will be a magical and memorable evening in South Orange. Hope to see you there.

In the meantime, stay cool and hydrated and let me know if you’d like to set up a studio visit. Sending you loads of love and hope, always.
