“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”
—Emma Lazarus
One of my latest paintings, “Mess America,” is my response to the 250th anniversary of our country. It sets the table with a bowl of cherries — pits, stems, and all — alongside a napkin bearing the flag and a glass of splashing rosé. The mess is real: divided, spilled, and still being cleaned up. But the cherries are ripe, the colors are bold, the table’s still set, and we can still have fun.
I remain hopeful that after another 250 years, we’ll still be gathering around the table and having fun. Cause otherwise, what’s the point?
I’d love to meet you at the Leach Gallery in Montclair and give you a tour of the show. Let me know when you want to go!
I currently have a piece on view in a show called “We The People,” A visual interpretation of our country's 250 year old democracy. See it at the Leach Gallery in Montclair, NJ. My piece, “LP Gold Top,” depicts a splattered Gibson Les Paul Goldtop guitar that sparkles so brightly on its wooden panel, you can almost hear it sing. This guitar was one of the first solid-body electric guitars, and it was made in the USA in 1952, a real American beauty.
Visit my latest piece, “Cocktil Cherries,” at “Unveiled” the show is currently on view at the Herb and Millie Iris Gallery in SOPAC. Let me know if you’d like me to meet you for a private tour!
Visit me during the SOMA Studio Tour on Saturday, November 7th at the Loft in SOPAC on the third floor. The loft is Saturday only. It’s a new venue for me, and I’m thrilled to show my paintings alongside so many incredibly talented artists. You’ve got to see it, this is next-level work. I’ve been working on an exciting new series, and I’m eager to share it with you. Stop by between 11 and 5, and drag your friends along. They will thank you. It’s gonna be a pARTy! Make SOPAC your first stop and see the work of 69 artists showing in the tour, get your map, pop in the loft to see me and the other creatives and start your day with a splash!
Sending you tons of love always,
Leslie
